As I mentioned, at the Wooden Boat Festival, I was an early adopter of your product in an effort to protect the diesel fuel in my 145 gallon sailboat's fuel tank from excess moisture migrating into the tank via the fuel vent line. At the time your base of operation was in Port Hadlock/Port Townsend and business was just ramping up. I am not sure of the exact timeline but I am thinking about 8-10 years ago at least.
The in-line fuel desiccant filter has worked great! I am using your largest model. I have never had any moisture fuel contamination or algae/bacteria growth in my fuel tank, which is now 16 years old and the boat often sits for 6-8 months a year without being used. In addition, there has never been the need to add diesel fuel additives to control moisture.
Besides the in-line desiccant fuel filter, I regularly use your smaller self-contained stainless steel canisters for use in my home safe in WA and Mexico, file cabinets, spice drawers and freezer compartment on my boat. A major use for them is in my car in Mexico to reduce moisture/mold on the interior when the car sits for months at a time. They significantly reduce the level of moisture and resultant musty smell that often results from high humidity levels in confined spaces.
H2Out is a great product! The technical support I have received over the years and overall customer service has been exceptional. In my opinion and experience, the desiccant fuel filter system is a must have in any boat fuel venting system.
Thank you for making a great product and also standing behind it.
Best Wishes,
Mark H.
"We've been enjoying desert-dry gasoline for five years, courtesy of silica gel vent driers from H2OUT (see "EPA Mandate Sparks Fuel-Vent Filter Test," Practical Sailor, January 2013). As a result, carburetor corrosion and jet plugging have been eliminated.
... This time, with fresh flares, we included an H2Out SD109 space dryer inside the bag and stored them in a dry cabin locker. The result? After 5 years, the flares are still like new. The silica gel had begun to change color, perhaps 20% spent, but the flares were proteced and functioned perfectly (four out of four)."
"Super, game-changing technology making use of B100 on vessels a piece of cake. Thank you, Rich."
note: Peter Wilcox has made it his mission to run Ama Natura on B100 - 100% Biodiesel. This is a challenge because biodiesel absorbs even more water than petro-fuels, and supports microbial growth well.
He has been using the AVD on each fuel tank since 2011 - one of our earliest adopters.
"I recently came across a product that solves the problem of water infiltration through tank vent lines and should largely remove the threat of adsorbed water in fuel. In fact, it is so impressive my fellow editors at SAIL magazine have selected it as one of the 2012 Pittman Innovation Award winners.
H2Out® keeps coming up with new uses, such as keeping the humidity low in closets and boats as to prevent mildew, especially when boats are laid up and not in use. One idea I particularly like is using H2Out® to reduce humidity in marine fridges and freezers. I was skeptical and decided to try it myself on a modestly frosted refrigerator and heavily frosted freezer. Within six hours the frost had all melted off the refrigerator evaporator plate, and the next morning the residual water was gone and the evaporator plate and icebox were dry!"
"I purchased 3 H2Out dehumidifiers (2 SD309's and 1 SD306) for my new 26' motorhome. We have used them for 3 months now in the Pacific Northwest (land of rain and damp) and they work superbly. I visit my MH every month to run the generator, check on my rig and at the same time I recharge the H2Out units. Each time I have checked there is not a lick of moisture or even a hint of dampness in our motorhome. Recharging is very simple. For me this is a simple straightforward solution to a potentially very damaging problem. It is one less thing to worry about! Thank you!"
"Thank you for your review of the H2Out AVD diesel tank vent filters, and especially the tips on installation best practices (PS, January 2014). You've confirmed for me that I made the right move, and more importantly, that I actually installed the unit correctly on my boat.
Sailboats have a bit of advantage over their power cousins in that we have more high spots that can be used creatively. In my installation, the diesel vent line (fuel-grade hose) loops high inside at the transom and back down to the through-hull. Through the use of a check valve, air flows out, but intake air comes in through the AVD, which is attached to the underside of the deck; no additional support needed. The unit is readily available for inspection or replacement through the transom locker, and it is not in the way of any equipment that needs to go in or out. Love the H2Out AVD2 vent filter; kudos to Pindell Engineering."

"Works great, as advertised. Even the little containers do a wonderful job of wicking away the moisture. A little confusing with the directions on how to re-energize the H2Out for re-use. One says to bake them for 2 hours @200 degrees, the other says 1 hour @ 250. I did them both ways & they worked."
"I bought one of these to try in our garage where wet cars come in and out on a daily basis. I was using Dri-Z-Air but I was constantly changing the water and buying more crystals that I wanted to try something else. The H2Out actually works better than the Dri-Z-Air. Its been a great product so far. I would definitely recommend it."
"I was given one of these by my niece last summer. I use it in my car during the wet months, which start in October and end in June. (I live in the Pacific Northwest.) In the mornings during these months, my car is usually covered with condensation on the inside, with the windshield sometimes dripping. It takes a while for the car to warm up enough for the defrosters to be effective. However, since I started using this product, my car is bone dry in the mornings. It saves about 10 minutes every morning. Well worth it. I'm still on the original "charge" and it's still working well."
"I have not had my H2Out SD303 for very long, however I use products like this in my work. The h2Out is a very well made product and I see no issues with it so far. I looked for equivalent products through my work and the pricing was very fair for what you are getting. I was hoping to find something cheaper, but it is a very well made product so should last well into the future."
